This only seemes to be available when using the Minidisplayport-DVI or HDMI dongle. Snow Leopard has introduced the setting of "1080i" on Display preferences.

I also have a PS3/XBOX360/DirectTV DVR all running 1080i on a component switcher to the TV no problem. When I try custom 1080i settings I get scrambled screen noise.

When the mac is in 640x480, I get correct image on the RPTV. The Box1020 is connected via component to RPTV. I am connected to a Box1020 RGB to Component Converter via VGA cable from the Mac I am using the Mac mini displayport to VGA dongle I am connected to an old Mitsubishi 46809 RPTV. I've got a 2009 Mac Mini running Snow Leopard 10.6.2. I've been trying to no avail with my setup here. As an added bonus, somehow through this process the system preferences display settings now show the proper settings menu with scaled options for "larger text" and "more space" as it should for a HiDPI capable monitor- instead of just a list of resolutions like it did before. I now have both of these monitors running side by side in glorious scaled (5120x2160-scaled to 6720x2834- "UI Looks Like" 3360x1417) HiDPI mode off my Radeon VII. Apply and viola- i almost could not believe my eyes. I was then able to make an exact replica of those settings as a custom resolution on my hackintosh. I then used switchresX to "view" the exact settings that the laptop was using natively to run the display properly at the scaled resolution i wanted. This is all working perfectly now!įirst i installed it on my real mac laptop, which as i reported before, was working correctly.
